Finish: Cacti

I finished my colorful cacti today! Here it is- all ironed and ready for a frame. It was so relaxing because it was an easy, straightforward pattern, and it was a blast to stitch. This pattern is officially called, “In a Prickle,” by Lesley Teare from CrossStitcher, February 2015 (Issue 288). Now the question is: where am I going to hang it up?

Thanks for following along!

Too Hot!

It has been well into the low 100s, so we’ve been holed up reading and cross stitching!

This is my mom and I doing stitchy stuff; she’s organizing her thread! Bilbo is in the background close by all the action.

I also just kitted up a new project from the new issue of Just CrossStitch – “Knee High.” This will be a gift for my dad for his August birthday. I love the earthy colors for this farm themed pattern.

Everyone stay cool and happy stitching!

Desert Dreaming

Backstitch time

Hello all! This weekend I started the Cactus project from CrossStitcher magazine as mentioned in a previous post. I’m having so much fun with it; it’s so colorful and so simple (NO confetti stitching for me this time 🙂 which makes this pattern relaxing to stitch)! My cactus obsession continues…. This would look great on the wall next to another pattern I want to do, “What Lies Beneath” by Ink Circles! Anyway after I finish the backstitching on this one, I have three more cacti to go! I have a feeling that this one will go by quick.

I don’t know why I find this picture of him so funny- he just looks so comfy and spoiled.

It’s been too hot and muggy to do anything outside during the day, so Bilbo and I have just been hanging around. Mostly reading– 41% read in Little Dorrit and I am on the second book of the October Daye series. We did have a massive thunderstorm last night which included sparks popping out of outlets and Bilbo needing to get his Thundershirt on. So that was an adventure…. 😉

WIPs, Kits, and Finishes- Oh My!

It’s been a while- but I’ve got a lot of stitching done since then! I’ve picked up “Pretty Poppies” again. Going fairly fast.   Made a little progress on my Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery’s “Once Upon a Time Sampler”.    Two weeks ago, I finished Little House Needlework’s “Give Thanks.” I can’t wait to get it framed and on my kitchen wall! I also have another small finish, but it’s part of a present that I can’t show yet. 😉  I have also kitted up two patterns. One of them is this cacti pattern from CrossStitcher magazine’s February 2015, Issue 288. The other is “Stitchingly Ever After,” by Barbara Ann Designs.  I have also been preoccupied with reading Charles Dickens’ Little Dorrit. The audio book performed by Anton Lesser is amazing as well. The main character is a seamstress/needleworker. I can only image the pieces she’s working on!

Happy Stitching!
