Happyily, I was blessed with a lot of time to cross stitch this past week. I also took the plunge and started backstitching on Poppies. Let’s be honest: after finishing a whole pattern, I’m not too excited about going back over everything with backstitching. So I think my new rule of thumb is to backstitch a little at a time throughout the project to keep my momentum up. I’m pretty close to finishing Poppies!
Happy Stitching!
I agree that backstitch is the part I enjoy least but of course, it always brings a design to life

Oh yes- it always looks amazing after backstitching is done, but so hard to get motivated to do it sometimes. I’ve even wondered if some designs I’ve worked on would be OK if I didn’t do the backstitching!

as I get older, I admit, I do tend to shy away from projects with too much backstitch.

I’m not a fan of backstitching either, but it really does make everything stand out. Your poppies are just beautiful!

I think I am one of the weird ones who loves backstitching! The only backstitching I don’t like is when you have to poke holes in aida fabric. I always do my backstitching as I go along as I am too impatient to wait until the end.

I think I’m going to start doing backstitching as I go along like you- I was just always taught to do it at the end and it’s just so overwhelming! Maybe I’ll enjoy it more that way.
